The house is located on an angled plot with a sloping hillside in Calafell. The proposal is based on two main volumes -one with a sloping roof and the other with a parallel-lelepiped geometry- which are articulated through a more transparent nexus volume. This central element contains the access and the vertical communication nucleus, while generating a play of volumes that singles out the implantation.
The organization is clear and responds to the orientation of the plot. On the ground floor, the west wing houses the living room, the dining room and the kitchen, all of them open to the courtyard. On the south wing there is a parking area, a bedroom, a bathroom and the laundry room. On the second floor, the west wing is used as a study, open to the double space of the living room and conceived as an intermediate area between the day and night areas. The south wing has a bedroom, a bathroom and the suite with dressing room and bathroom, which enjoys sea views.
The house opens completely onto the south-facing courtyard, conceived as the center of family life. The presence of two double spaces -at the core and in the living room- reinforces the spatial quality and ensures a constant visual and luminous relationship with the exterior.
The construction is built with traditional systems, but incorporates advanced energy efficiency criteria: exterior insulation (SATE), high performance fuses, increased ventilation, solar protection porches and overhangs, and photovoltaic systems combined with high efficiency air conditioning.
The result is a compact and efficient habitat, with large and bright spaces that are projected towards the courtyard, which is the true center of the house.
