Agri-food space in Kathmandu
Final Project
The agri-food space in Kathmandu is a project based on education, tourism and agriculture. Located between two effervescent points of the city, the project aims to act as a cohesive element of a growing neighborhood. To this end, a program with agriculture and food as a common thread is proposed: an agricultural and cooking school, a market and a restaurant area that will accommodate the tourist flow that circulates between the temples of Passupatinath and the Boudhanat district.
The arrangement of the various bodies forms a central courtyard reminiscent of the way in which the three ancient cities of the Kathmandu Valley are built; where the courtyards become a space of tranquility towards the noisy and dusty streets. Disaggregated volumes are also recommended in areas with high seismic activity. Red brick baked in the valley’s kilns, wood and sheet metal make up some of the old Kathmandu in this part of the city.
